I asked one of my models to write something about her hopes and fears.
These two images show the contrast between the formative years and middle age. I tried to use trees at different stages of the life cycle. The first tree with the teenage model is a yound tree with fresh leaves. I also like the way the trees appear to mimic her hair.
The second image I have used a more established tree,
This engulfs the image. Framing the models face to show that is fully grown. I trust this idea is effective. I do need to show more contrast and links to the artists.

CRITICAL STUDY ON STORM THORGERSON
I discovered this image whilst researching the tree of life. The image has been created by the visual artist 'Storm Thorherson'.
He is a well known graphic designers, film maker and has his own studio 'Storm studios'.
In the image I can see a tree set in a green field. The branches have appeared to grow into the profile outline of a man.The large tree trunk represents the neck. The smaller branches reaching out to represent the facial feautures of a man.
I think the photographer/designer has used photoshop to create this image. He has overlaid the tree image with a photograph of
mans head. He has then used selection tool to make the tree image. He has then used the inverse tool to selevt the outside of the
image and deleted it. This has left the impression that the tree has grown into the face of a man.
I like the idea of different trees at different stages into an image.
A young sapling as a baby for example. However I think the idea of overlaying the face/portaits into the tree would work better.

MY OWN PHOTOGRAPHS IN FOREST
FORESTS
Forests are, without a doubt,, one of the worlds most amazing natural landscapes!
As a photography subject they're incredibly versatile and can go from being mysterious, or downright terrifying, to being majestic and powerful in the space of a few hours!
There is something inherenty awe-inspiring about trees, especially when you are surrounded by a seemingly endless host of them. Be it their magnificent size or enigmatic beauty, in the depths of the forest we remember nature's ability to thrive.
Forests are a truly wonderful photography subject all year wound. In any season, under any weather conditions, and at any time of the day forests can show you a new side to their character. From the bright colours of autumn and the bleak depths of winter, to the thriving life spiring.
MY OWN PHOTOGRAPHS OF TEXTURE CONTRAST...
Llandudno February 2013, North Wales
Nikon D3100
The seascape is one of the most inspiring places. I live by the sea and the contrast in light and texture can be seen at its height there.
This image i used good clear composition. I wanted the effect to be on the grain and contrast of the wooden panels.

Critical Study : Jan Chipps
The photograph I have chosen to write about is called seascape. It was completed by Jan Chipps.
I think the work portrays Nature. In the picture there is a good view of the sea. The photographer has tried to capture a moment in time. The tone in the piece is dark, contrasting, strong and powerful. The composition is based on the rule of thirds. The ligh of the sun has made a shadow across the sea and this makes the picture look more dramatic. Colours are blue and cold. The way photographer has captured the light of the sun settings against the deep blue sky (complimentary colours) creates a
strong contrast. I think the photographer wanted us to feel the beauty of nature.
I choose to write about this piece because I loke the way the light fall and I would like to take my own photographs of sea contrast early in the morning or late at night and to try and capture the beauty of nature.

Landscape Photography
Landscape photography attempts to capture a moment in nature and reveal something special and spectacular about it.
Landscape photography focuses on the natural world. Anything that is a part of the environment can be considered an apt subject for landscape photography. Whether it's a shadow of a cloud on a green pasture or the expansive depths of the Grand Canyon, landscape photography relies on an interesting perspective and a balanced composition to make it stand out.

CONTRAST
Contrast is the difference in luminance and/or color that makes an object (or it's representation in an image or display)
distinguishable. In visual perception of the real world, contrast is determined by the difference in the color and
brightness of the object and other objects within the same field of view. Because the human visual system is more
sensitive to contrast than absolute luminance, we can perceive the world simirlarly regardless of the huge
changes in illumination over the day or from place to place.
The colors white and black provide the greatest degree of contrast. Complementary colors also highly contrast
with one other.

Introduction
The exam question i have chosen to study is Contrast. I have chosen contrast, because i wolud like to explore the beauties of nature.
I would like to focus on the change in mood and atmosphere in the landscape.
The way the light falls and the changing weather conditions all create drama in the wild landscape of Wales.
I live in Wales and it is well known for its rugged mountains and wind-swept beaches.
Through photography i would like to capture some of these landscapes.
Hopefully i can show the beauty in contrast through my use of the lens.
